Readers Find Light in “Brightest”

Fusing the Beauty of Art and Words in Children’s Book

Isshin Dream Publishing officially released its first ever children’s book entitled
“Brightest” last December 17 at the National Bookstore branch in SM City Calamba.
The 50-page picture book was proudly crafted by Filipinos – Johann De Venecia
as the illustrator and Joanne Crisner and Josephine Litonjua as its writers. Alongside
its recently launched book, The Seven: The Key of Credence, mall toured—which
include book signing sessions and art exhibits—which was held from December 17-19
at SM City Calamba and January 7 to 10 at SM City Lipa.

With a stunning artwork, the book tells about the touching story of a lost firefly catcher
whose adventures reflect the real experiences of humans. Though categorized as
a children’s book, the message of the story is also intended for young adults and
professionals who can find themselves relating to the book’s universal lesson.

Johann De Venecia, a Visual Communications graduate from the University of the Philippines Diliman
[UPD], is an emerging freelance illustrator and concept artist based in Long
Beach, California. His compelling and intricate artworks were discovered online
by Isshin Dream who was determined to publish his works. To view more of his
portfolio, visit www.johanndevenecia.com.

While the illustrations will seize the visual senses, the text further expounds on the
endearing story that will also capture the reader’s hearts. As the writers,
Joanne and Josephine took it as a challenge to come to par with the book’s
beautiful images. The only way to preserve the quality of the art is by
thoughtfully expressing the heart of the story.   Joanne Crisner also earned her bachelor’s degree
from UPD majoring in Journalism while Josephine Litonjua is an Agribusiness
Management graduate from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Aside from tackling the meaning of loss, the book also highlights the value of friendship that
comes even from the most unexpected places. Isshin Dream aspires for parents to
pass on the book to future generations as its message of hope remains timeless
and invaluable. To know more about the book and upcoming events, please visit
